Otago Manchot à oeil jaune

Yellow-Eyed Penguin is  an endangered species since rats have overwhelmed large areas of the New-Zealand South Island. This very wild Penguin can be observed in protected areas where huts have been built for observers and photographs. This small animal lives in a burrow just above the sea. Every morning he leaves  to go at sea to fish and bring food to the youths. He can swim 80 kilometers in one day and dive tenths of meters deep to catch fishes. Incredible! If you are very lucky you also can observe one along the wild coast and notice that if you are respectful they can be  very friendly.
